POSTAL UNITED FC - Wednesday, April 18, 2012
Postal United advanced from their semi-final to face Sacred Heart in the final of the Tom Carroll Cup. Postal beat Dublin University 1-0, with Gerrard Hamilton scoring the vital goal with just five minutes remaining. The game was a cagey affair early on with both sides battling for possession and the students had the better of the play in the first half. After the restart Conor Hempenstall kept Postal in the game with a string of fine saves and Brian Cullen and Gar Mc Donald defended diligently for the home side. With just minutes remaining and with the tie looking like it was going to extra-time, Luke Keegan found space in the middle of the park and picked out Hamilton. Hamilton controlled the pass before chipping the ball over the keeper to send the home side into the final.
